Artist statement

Understand the purpose of an artist statement, identify various types, analyse real examples, and practice writing in your own words. This skill helps communicate your creative practice, develop writing skills, and find your 'voice'.

Critical writing

Critical writing involves analysis and review, supported by evidence. In design, it may take the form of an essay, visual analysis, or journal article.

Reflective writing in design

Reflecting on practice is an important means of developing expertise in design. Structured reflection involves identifying significant events that lead to learning, identifying their value, and considering their contribution to your future projects and practice.

Propositional writing

Propositional writing sets out a plan of action or design intent. It clearly presents the project or idea, outlines the significance of certain actions or design elements, and how they can be achieved.
